Final Race: Tom Lüthi Second in Valencia and strong Moto2 overall third

After an incredibly thrilling duel for victory and 2019 vice-championship, Tom Lüthi finished the Valencia finale with a fourth podium finish in a row, taking home the third place overall.

Sunny weather, full crowds around the Ricardo Tormo Circuit in Valencia and a fantastic warm-up session with Tom Lüthi in third place. The Swiss was ready for the big final of the 2019 season!
It was followed by pure excitement and an impressive will to win, delivered by Tom Lüthi. The race had to be delayed after several incidents in the Moto3 class and was therefore cut short to 16 laps, of which the Swiss was leading 13 laps. By the middle of the race he was in charge in front of his biggest rival, Brad Binder, who was right behind him. Only in the penultimate lap on the 4-kilometer long Circuit, the South African managed to pass Tom Lüthi and won the race.
Despite losing the runner-up spot, the happiness about Tom Lüthi's fourth podium in a row was bigger. Especially after the bike of the championship third had a technical problem until shortly before the start of the race. Due to the great work of the Dynavolt Intact GP crew, it ended up as by far the best Kalex in the field.
Tom Lüthi returned to the Intermediate class after one year in MotoGP and delivered a fairy tale season. Eight times the Swiss rode onto the podium, he won in Austin and collected 250 points. Today he was rewarded with the third place in the world championship.

Already next week Tom and the Intact GP Team will start with the preparations for the new season. The first test for 2020 is scheduled for November 20th and 21st in Jerez de la Frontera.

Tom Lüthi Race: P2 | Moto2 World Championship 2019 - P3 - 250 Points

I'm definitely happy with the podium. First of all, I was a bit disappointed because it was about the runner-up spot in the championship. But to fight again for victory was a great feeling. Brad (Binder) did a great race. He was very strong. I was strong at the beginning of the race too. Towards the middle I also had a good pace and was able to open a gap, but with the increasing wind I got problems with the front tyre. Then I made some small mistakes and Brad caught up again. He rode the last laps without any mistake. I could not put anything out of my pocket and the race ended like that. But we can be really happy with the result and also proud, because we did not have a strong summer. We can take a lot into the new season and that's a good thing. After the overseas races and the result today, we can regain confidence and it shows us the direction in which we have to go. I am really happy that I am staying in the same team. We are getting to know and understand each other better, and of course that helps us with our work. Everything is possible again next year.

Jürgen Lingg Teammanager

We had a great season and the team worked really great. Tom tried everything and had a strong race again. The last four races he was on the podium and that says it all. That speaks for Tom and the whole crew in the background. We just gave away too many points after the summer break, but still we can be very proud of what we've achieved. To be in the top three in Moto2, whether in the team standings, or riders' championship, that is already an award. It always takes a lot of luck in such a championship and you don’t always have that in your own hands and so it was with us. We have given the maximum and that's what we're about and we've been able to show that we're here. I have to say that it was very exciting. We even had a technical problem before the race and the bike finished at the last minute. And if you have observed that, then you have seen that every move has sat. So I'd like to thank the team for doing so well and our sponsors for making this all possible.
