Fantastic 6th position on the grid for Tom Lüthi
The final race in Valencia turns out to be the highlight of the season for Tom Lüthi with sixth place on the grid.
He has never had so much fun on the bike this season as he did in today's qualifying session, says Tom Lüthi directly after the Q2 session. After having to cope with a crash in free practice and grip problems in general, the team managed to prepare the bike for this afternoon's qualifying session in a way that allowed Tom Lüthi to once again reach his full potential in preparation for his last Moto2 race. With a strong performance, he finished second in Q1 and was thus able to pass on to Q2. After almost 20 years of world championship experience, the Swiss rider finished this qualifying session in sixth place, which means he will start tomorrow's race from the second row.
The Moto2 race in Valencia will start on Sunday, November 14, at 12:20 pm.
Tom Lüthi (P6 | 1’35.091):
It’s been a great day. After FP3 we didn’t expect a big step but the team did an incredible job. They turned the bikes around and I could ride in the Q1 with a great feeling. It was a great feeling on the bike and it was really impressive how I could start to push. I enjoyed so much. In the Q2 I was competitive. We made a big stop to change the rear tyre and I was faster. Finally I’m in the second row for my last race. This is great. I’m looking forward to tomorrow and we are ready to go.
