Tom Lüthi declared unfit. He's Moto2 world vice champion 2017

After Tom Lüthi’s horrible crash during the Moto2-Qualifying of the MalaysianGP, the swiss rider was transported to a private hospital after a first check at the medical center of the Sepang Circuit.

On the radiography they recognized that he had broken his left foot. Although the doctors reassured concerning a concussion, the pain in Tom’s ankle was too bad. Therefore he will not be able to take part at the race of the MalaysianGP. Tom Lüthi will return to Switzerland today Sunday, where he will immediately have further medical examinations. At the present time it’s not possible to estimate for how long he has to retire.

Tom Lüthi

I’m extremely disappointed. I don’t hope to have to finish my season like this. I was sure to be able to finish this job here, I felt good. In the second corner, the grip was a bit worse and the angle was a bit leaner. As soon as I wanted to push again, I had this highsider. The impact was violent, but I was not unconscious at any point. The pain in my foot is horrible though – I didn’t sleep at all last night. Congratulation to Franco Morbidelli for his titel. I hope to be back soon.
