AustrianGP: Hope for good weather conditions on Saturday

Tom Lüthi finished the opening day at the Red Bull Ring in overall position 18. He's now hoping for a dry FP3 on Saturday in order to secure himself a direct Q2 qualifying entry.

Tom Lüthi had already made it into the Q2 ranking with 14th place in the morning. But his time of 1'29.668 should remain his fastest of the day. Under the changing conditions in the afternoon, the Swiss could not improve and was pushed back to 18th place in the combined classification. Despite the many red helmets on the time monitors on Friday, the Intact GP rider mostly lost precious time in the third sector. That's why he wants to focus primarily on this area in FP3 so that he can hopefully achieve the straightforward step into Q2 qualifying tomorrow.

This morning after the first session I was already in Q2, then in the afternoon it was a bit uncertain with the weather. Fortunately it stayed dry in the second session, but in the end it threw me out of Q2 because I couldn't improve. The timing was good with the conditions and I was able to ride well at the limit. In the second run as well, but it didn't quite work out so I couldn't really get a lot more out of it. I think we pretty much know why it felt like that. I hope we can fix this for tomorrow. Unfortunately, I'm currently outside of the direct Q2 positions. The weather conditions are very mixed, so I hope that the FP3 is dry so that I can get another chance to qualify for Q2 directly. If we don't make it, then we'll have to try and get into Q2 via Q1. We will clearly continue to fight anyway."
