Tom Lüthi finishes the first day of the AlgarveGP on P22

After a good start to the practice sessions at the Algarve Grand Prix, Tom Lüthi continues to work on the setup of the bike with the SAG team. He finishes the first day in P22.

Moto2 returns to Portugal for the second time this season at the Autódromo Internacional do Algarve - for the second-last Grand Prix of 2022. In good conditions and around 20°C air temperature, Tom Lüthi and the SAG Racing Team took to the track today, Friday, for the first free practice sessions in Portimao. On the circuit, which is also known as the "roller coaster" due to its many bumps and elevation changes, the Swiss rider found a good rhythm at the start of the first practice session - but had more and more problems keeping the feeling at a good level throughout the day. The goal for tomorrow, Saturday: a clear improvement to make the direct step into Q2.

Tom Lüthi (P22 | +1.068):

The day started well today - I had a good feeling for the bike at the beginning of FP1. However, throughout the day I could not keep this feeling. We still have some work to do if we don't want to go through Q1 tomorrow. There is room for further improvement on the bike and I'm looking forward to tomorrow morning's practice to continue the plan we have worked out today.
