Second round in Spielberg: ready for the AustrianGP

Tom Lüthi concludes the first day at the AustrianGP on 13th postition.

The second race weekend in Spielberg started with sunny and warm weather conditions - and with new tires. A new compound, which was made available to all Moto2 riders, offers the field of riders and their teams new possibilities and also makes Tom Lüthi confident. In the second free practice of the Moto2, however, the weather changed and rain tires were on the program. Nevertheless, Tom Lüthi found a good rhythm in the afternoon and classified himself in the wet conditions on the 10th place.

Tom Lüthi (P10 |  1’29.419 | +0.452):

Second weekend here in Spielberg with quite good conditions. All the Moto2 riders have a new rear tyre this weekend so we have a softer option. This is interesting and this morning I was already using it during the last exit to see if I was able to improve the lap time. It was not too bad actually. I could pile up a small rhythm but the problem was with the soft tyre and I did too many mistakes. In the afternoon there was a lot of rain before the FP2 and we didn’t have the perfect track conditions. We went on track again but the grip wasn’t the same that in the morning. We focused on working on the bike for the race and get some consistent lap times. During the second exit we tried the soft rear again and it was quite better, the rhytyhm was good and also the lap time. It’s been a good day, I could get some good base for the weekend. Looking forward for tomorrow and we will keep working.
