CatalanGP: Tom Lüthi starts from 8th row

After a strong Saturday, Tom Lüthi has to start the CatalanGP race from the eighth row despite good pace.

After a few days at home in Switzerland, Tom Lüthi is back on the race track in Barcelona with the SAG Racing Team. The Bernese started yesterday Friday confident and focused in the race weekend in Catalonia. Despite a difficult first free practice session, the team started motivated into FP2. However, lap times improved across the field on Saturday, so Tom Lüthi still had to face Q1. In the first qualifying session, the Swiss rider found a good rhythm and was on course for Q2 - but the best lap time was cancelled due to exceeding track limits. Thus Tom Lüthi will start the race tomorrow Sunday from 23rd position on the grid.

Tom Lüthi (P23 | 1’44.098):

The start to this race weekend was definitely anything but easy. I had to find my focus first and therefore didn't have a good pace in the first free practice. Fortunately, we were able to improve on Friday afternoon and were therefore confident for Saturday. However, we also knew that the other riders would surely improve as well - which is what happened in FP3. We then had to go through Q1, where my best lap was cancelled due to "exceeding track limits". It's a shame that we have to start from the eighth row despite very good work from the whole team. But my speed is good and I'm motivated for the race. Congratulations to Bo and his crew for the front row!
